Being at the top means nothing if you don’t have that one to share it with. Nathan is realizing that running Philly with his cousin Cortez and running through women is getting old. Almost ready to clean up his money and expand his business ventures, he’s also yearning to get his Queen. The problem is he is torn between his old love, a new flame and a mystery woman catches his interest.
LaToya finds it hard to let go of what she already knows. Even after making up her mind to find a new love, she always ends up back in Nathan’s arms. No matter how bad he hurts her. Overtime she gets comfortable, greedy and messy and finds herself losing at her own game.
Vera not only has herself to look after but her younger brother and sister since the mother that was supposed to care for them was only concerned with getting high. Her mothers addiction rules her life and leaves them with nothing and Vera is forced to do whatever she can to make sure they don’t go to bed hungry. After being handed over by her mother in order to get high, her heart is broken, trust is nonexistent and she has a wall built up blocking the idea of love until Nate steps into her world.
Cortez is batteling some serious issues from his traumatic childhood. His first love and heart break was his mother who left him with the streets to chase her high. Because of her, he has scars that won’t heal and memories that wouldn’t go away. It made him distant, unstable, and controlling, but successful in taking over the Empire his uncle created along side his cousin. The woman that brought him into this world created a monster and he found peace in taking lives or getting in between women legs. He finds pleasure in playing with them like they were toys and moving to the next once he got bored. No love. No Commitment.
Angel fell in love with a beast. She’s searching for something in Cortez that doesn’t exsist. He was mean, reckless, powerful and fearless and it drew her in like a moth to a flame. Although he shows and tells her he wont give her what she wants, she hangs on thinking he’s what she needs. Although he runs through women she holds on to her position in his life by living by his rules. As long as she’s around she has hope that she will one day warm his cold heart.
Aside from their complicated love lives and bonds Nathan and Cortez run an empire that gives them money, power and respect in the city of Brotherly Love. With money comes problems and there’s always a price to pay when a lurking enemy thinks he can take over take over what’s yours.Trying to step out of the game, Nathan is stuck protecting his legacy all the while fully letting that special woman in. Will he succeed or fail when it comes to reigning as The King of Philly?

Vera and her siblings have been dealt a hard life thanks to their drug addict mother, but Nate has plans to change that. Nate is sick of Malaysia's ways and wants her out of his life but she doesn't want to live without what he has to offer. Cortez knows that Al and Malaysia are snakes and are doing Nate bad. Waiting for part 2 to see what happens.
I was just thinking, I don't really like Malaysia. She was nothing going on for herself. If I was supposed to be the queen of Philly, I would have some money put a for times like this. Now she wants to fight Vera and for what? Nate doesn't know who he wants in his life. Something is really wrong with Cortez, he's just crazy. Angel something is really wrong with her too. I wouldn't be with a man that's who is incapable of love or giving her a child.
This book was everything from beginning to end drama action intense couples up and down suspense puzzle revelation revealed well written every page intense this Mal and Al yup just got real
Omg Belleza, Nate is so irritating. Malaysia needs to get her life, why are you trying to fight the female, so hypocritical you are cheating on him with his best friend. Al needs to man up, people can sense you are not about that life. Cortez needs to show Nate why Al is a snake. LaToya needs to move on point blank period. Keep up the great work.

Very easy, fast read. Interesting & great surprises! Some grammatical mistakes threw me off from time to time.. but I'm purchasing the second edition because I'm curious to know what happens next!
Everyday hood Cinderella story. With hood ninja's & chic's trying to make easy come up vs real women that make her own as well as become her own foundation without digging in a mans pockets.
